A resident/non-resident licensed insurance agent responsible efor analyzin prospect needs, recommending appropriate coverage and imits, quoting premium, and selling Foremost Specialty Lines products in all states Foremost does business in.

Position Requirements

Works with one or more specialty lines product(s) and supporting direct marketing, policy processing, underwriting, producer, claims, and billing systems. Responsible for analyzing prospectÆs needs, recommending appropriate coverage and policy limits. Completes outbound calls to attain quote conversions and new business solicitation. Provides outbound re-quotes. Also handles quote requests via the Internet. Sets a professional example by maintaining and applying a thorough, up-to-date, working knowledge of established workflow and product/underwriting procedures, methods, account contract requirements regulatory requirements, and state-by-state coverage variations as well as product variations. Responds quickly and appropriately to customer objections. Recognizes buying signals. Knows and applies several different closing techniques. Performs underwriting functions to determine risk acceptability. Functions include accepting, modifying or declining presented risk based on underwriting guidelines and bulletins. Ensures the risk is written under the correct program. Identifies issues and seeks assistance of line underwriting as needed. Maintains sales call effectiveness and efficiency through schedule adherence, talk time, relationship building, etc. Builds personal skill set by participating in internal insurance, professional sales, or other job- related courses. Promotes safety at all times and complies with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in relevant company published manuals. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Actions

Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing and lifting and/or carrying 10-lbs. maximum and seeing.

Physical Environment

Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Attainment of, or actively pursuing, insurance designations such as Certificate in General Insurance (CGI) or Associate in Personal Insurance (API).

Experience Requirements

Two years sales experience. Resident agent license and non-resident agent license required in all states in which Foremost conducts business.

Ability to establish good customer relationships. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills Strong selling skills including: persuasive, enthusiastic, competitive, assertive, ambitious, self-confident, unaffected by sales turn-downs Proficient and accurate PC skills Ability to understand and explain policy contracts, coverage, limits, etc. Strong knowledge of underwriting and binding guidelines Ability to clearly interpret underwriting, operational, compliance, MVR requirements as they vary by state. Ability to understand and clearly explain the complex laws that affect our customers Ability to exercise good judgement Ability to think and react quickly and accurately in response to varied customer sales objections Effective planning and sales quote follow up Flexibility to work nonstandard hours/shifts Ability to adhere to structured schedule
