Responsible for obtaining and evaluating information that supports revenue growth and profitability. Analyzes information using data manipulation, correlation, and statistical analysis.
Position Requirements
Analyzes information using data manipulation, correlation, and statistical analysis. Modifies computer programs to extract information from company databases. Prepares state indications and other analyses of loss experience, retention, and expense data. Responsible for development of data and information structure. Performs primary field research, including customer, distribution, competitor, insurance department, and market surveys. Identifies market segments and develops specialized pricing approaches. Measures and monitors performance of states, initiatives, and identified segments Facilitates through other parts of the organization to accomplish results. Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
The following are REQUIRED to be considered for this position: *Intermediate skill level in MS Excel ·Relational database design experience (MS Access or comparable) ·Excellent quantitative analysis/critical thinking abilities ·Intermediate knowledge of SAS / PC SAS ·ntermediate understanding of SQL ·Proficient PC Skills in MS Word, Lotus Notes, MS PowerPoint, etc. ·Excellent verbal/written communication skills
The following are PREFERRED Skills: *Familiarity with Home or Auto insurance rating plans ·Experience with analyzing Competitor Filings ·Object Oriented programming language (e.g., VBA, Visual Basic, C++) ·Experience with mapping software (e.g., MapInfo, Business, MapPoint or similar) ·Ability to design custom reports using Business Objects, Crystal Reports, etc. ·Basic understanding of statistical analysis
Additonal Job Duties: *Develop tools/resources to provide insights about competitive position by market segments, changes in competitor strategy to Product Management and field sales organization ·Create/modify computer programs to extract information from company databases ·Acquire, aggregate, evaluate, and organize data from various data sources into meaningful competitive analysis. ·Review and publish competitor filings to identify/summarize key contents ·Contrast/compare competitor product offerings (e.g., contracts, underwriting guidelines, etc) to generate intuitive, understandable reference materials ·Understand/analyze competitor rating plans and tiering algorithms ·Catalogue/document competitive intel to make accessible for future reference ·Publish reports summarizing competitor rate change activity ·Systematize/automate ongoing competitive report production processes ·Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Actions
Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing, and lifting and/or carrying 10 lbs maximum, and seeing.
Physical Environment
Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
Education Requirements
Four-year college degree.
Experience Requirements
Three years of related experience or graduate degree and no experience.
